DIARABI

1′ | Italy, Mali | HD | 2011

A home to build, a woman alone, a letter to a man far away. She’s waiting in a house under construction, just a skeleton with no roof, that is her reflection: she can only wait for her lover to build their life together.

Director’s note

“Diarabi” is inspired by the “waiting” as a state of mind. Particularly by time and its perception while waiting. Its alterations and deformations.

Shot in Bamako (Mali), in the Lassa neighborhood, know as the “Hope hill”, because its inhabitants are low income people and there is no electricity nor running water.

The music takes a traditional Griot’s melody, that you can hear walking by the neighborhood.
